Fated Meeting, again.

Hikaru let her breath out slowly and focused her ki into her right arm. It thrummed in slow pulsing waves from her arm. She raised her hand up, palm skyward. She nudged her pulsing ki towards her palm. The energy rippled towards her palm, appearing like a soft shimmer, similar to a heat wave. Hikaru nodded her head approvingly. She then turned and faced the rocky plateau behind her. Hikaru slammed her palm forward, twisting it clockwise as she did so, causing the ki to pulse out like a spiral.

And the rock stood unmarred.

Hikaru pulled her hand back and examined the point of contact a little closer. There wasn’t even a sign of her palm print. Rather than seeming displeased, Hikaru nodded in approval again. Now she needed to take her technique to the next phase of testing…

But how? She needed a living person. A sparring partner. But she didn’t want to test this technique on Peardian. The girl had grown in strength. But Hikaru still didn’t want to risk hurting her. Perhaps she could ask Sora? But…

Hikaru’s mouth twitched to the side in displeasure. She wasn’t sure if she wanted to risk hurting him either… even though she felt confident in her healing abilities, she’d rather not risk it.

Hikaru let out a soft sigh. Perhaps she could find some Dark Clan Namekians to combat. But Hikaru didn’t like picking fights with them for no reason like Sora did. It felt wrong to instigate matchea with them. Retaliating to them attacking was another matter entirely but still…

Hikaru shook her head and slowly rose skyward to fly towards the nearest cave entrance to the underground territory of the Dark Clan.

Wait.

Hikaru turned to face a coming power level. It was strong. Stronger than average. Perhaps someone who would be willing to spar with her? Then again, whoever it was, was less than half her strength. It still might be too risky. But then again wearing her training weights brought her down beneath their level. It might be fine.

She’d have to see and judge for herself. Decision made Hikaru flew forward to meet the stranger halfway.

The human pulled up to a stop, floating high up over the Namekian floor beneath them. Ahead of her was a vaguely familiar figure. A man with pale lavender skin and white hair. She remembered him, this was the man who had pulled her from the wreckage and brought her to Mollau over a year ago…

“You…” she paused, her head tilted as she tried to remember a name she hadn’t heard for over a year, “You’re the man who saved me…”

It wasn’t coming to her. It had been too long, “I don’t remember your name…” she shook her head in an unspoken apology, “But thank you… Namek has become my home.”

Since the shinjin had discovered the burning wreckage of Hikaru’s ship over a year ago, she had since become a close friend to the people of her village. Yes, it had become her village too. Her home. The human had become a familiar defender of the people, and a known healer. She’d gotten a small gaggle of ‘students’ and people who she called friends.

And in a way she owed all this to the man in front of her for saving her life by bringing her to Mollau. Hikaru had been able to escape the crash herself, but escaping the underground and locating help? She would have collapsed long before then, and probably would have died.

And here she couldn't remember his name.

“Mamoru,” she repeated, making it a point to commit it to memory this time. It was the least she could do for the man who had saved her life. At least he didn’t seem too insulted that she had forgotten in the first time.

He then proceeded to talk to her about the Namekians and protecting them. Hikaru smiled inwardly. This was sounding familiar. Peardian, Sora, and, she had to admit even herself, wanted to get stronger to protect the peace here in Namek. There was something special here that drew forth such altruism.

In spite of the civil war between the Dark Clan and the surface dwelling Namekians, the majority of the planet was peaceful. The welcoming and kind nature of the Namekian people just naturally brought that out in the visitors and eventual settlers. There were few other communities of people that made one feel as if they belonged. Willing to share their home and safety.

Occasionally there would be the brutes who wanted to take advantage of that gentle nature. And that is what lead to people like Hikaru and Mamoru. She would do anything to protect Mollau, Gastro, Paddo, Denth, Tonfa, and all the others she had met since landing on this beautiful green planet.

Hikaru raised a hand to stop him, already knowing his request, “You want to train together…”

Hikaru dropped her hand to her side again, and gave Mamoru the smallest of smiles, but for the usually stoney faced Hikaru, it may as well as been a grin, “I want to protect Namek as well. My friends wish to as well… let’s do it together.”

The human shook her head lightly, amused at the perfect timing, “I actually was going to look for a sparring partner… I have a technique I’m developing. I could use your help.”

Hikaru unsnapped the buttons of her long hooded coat. She revealed her weighted training gear beneath, showing that she had already been training and preparing, growing stronger. Hikaru slipped her coat off, revealing her scarred arms, and held the coat limply at her side. It dangled from its hood.

“Let’s start now.”

Hikaru nodded in approval when Mamoru indicated that he too was wearing weights. She tossed aside her coat and it fell to the ground far below. She wasn’t too worried about finding it later. The coat was easily replaceable, as well as its contents. She kept her most valuable equipment strapped to her body, such as her capsule and energy crystals.

Hikaru clenched her hands into fists and summoned her own ki. It exploded into life around her in white spikes of energy much like Mamoru’s. Her hair waved slightly from the wind that was kicked up by her power. Mamoru and Hikaru’s power levels were pretty close like this, making them a good match for each other. They would both benefit from this bout.

Mamoru launched a series of ki blasts towards her testing the waters. Hikaru flew forward towards Mamoru, meeting his attack head on. She raised her arms, and deflected the blasts with her forearms. Left, right, left. The ki stung against her skin, and Hikaru shook her arms to shake off the pain.

Hikaru pulled up to Mamoru with a quick spin kick to his head. She followed up with a back fist, using the centrifugal force to add power behind the blow. And then brought her other fist swinging up into an uppercut against his chin.

Much like his ki blast against her, she wanted to test the waters as well. So she only put a little power into the attack to see how he would handle the hand to hand combat.

She brought her guard up and summoned her ki to prepare for his counter attack.

Mamoru’s ki attack blasted at her as a powerful beam. Hikaru raised her arms in and crossed them in an “X” in front of her. The beam slammed home against her forearms, but with her own ki bolstering her defenses, the attack’s damage was mitigated a bit. Didn’t mean it didn’t still sting though.

The human coughed a bit at the smoke screen that was kicked up from Mamoru’s attack blasting into her, and was unprepared for his barrage of follow up ki blasts . Hikaru didn't have a chance to pour her ki into hee body to bolster her defense. These blasts landed on her unimpeded causing her to stumble.

It seemed Mamoru was more proficient with his ki attacks, having responded to Hikaru’s attacks with only ranged counters. Hikaru decided to respond to him in kind. She gathered her ki into a white ball in her hand. She clenched her fist around the energy, compressing it, then threw her arm forward, sending out an extremely thin and sharp beam straight for Mamoru.

She wanted his focus on defending the attack. If he blocked she’d just move behind him, if he dodged, she would follow after him. Either way she would launch her attack. The one she had been wanting to test.

Ki pulsed through Hikaru’s body, channeled along her arm in waves. She thrusted her palm forward against his torso, arm twisting in a corkscrew, causing her ki to spiral into him… and disrupt his nervous system with shocking pulses.
