History:
Rafar’s story began, like most Saiyans, to a pair of middle-class warriors on Planet Vegeta under the "benevolent" Republic of Salada. The Sayian had two elder brothers and a twin sister, all with relatively high power levels, but his, 1,000 at birth, was by far the greatest of all of them. From the start it seems, he was destined for great things.
His childhood was harsh by most alien standards, containing endless training drills and ki control classes, as well as hundreds of real fights. The boy quickly gained a reputation for power and ferocity, easily taking on 3 or 4 of his supposed peers at the same time! His parents told him repeatedly to not let this strength go to his head, to always expect a stronger opponent, but Rafar, lost among his Sayian pride, could not hear. At the age of 16, he had the temerity to challenge a passing young elite to a brawl, due to the rather simple desire to boost his own ego, as well as impress some of the older Saiyans watching.
It was here Rafar learned his true place. He was tossed around like a ball by the elite’s vastly superior battle power before he, along with a few friends who tried to assist, were slapped into the dirt like so many ants.
It took weeks of recovery before Rafar could even stand, weeks more before he could walk. He had gotten far stronger from the experience but lost almost everything else. His parents and brothers could barely stand to look at him, his teachers with their former glowing praise mocked him openly on the sparring field, goading him into an attack which they quickly used as an excuse to beat him into the mud. The only bright spot in his life was his twin, who cheered him through the experience.
Until the day she vanished.
One night she was there and gone the next. Rafar was told that she had been allegedly picked to serve on some sort of elite squad, handpicked by the King himself to serve a glorious purpose. The Sayian teen was surprised, Callion was a decently strong Sayian of course, but certainly not on the level she would need to be for such a task!
He rushed to the pod bays, to try and get answers, only to find the scattered, brutally beaten bodies of his family, two score dead guards and five streaks of blue light shooting up into the atmosphere. Each streak contained immensely powerful, storied warriors, all easily able to conquer a planet if they wished. And the strongest among them, his beloved sister, saw the screaming boy, gave him a cheery wave and turned away from the sight.
Devastated, Rafar lasted a few weeks of anxious waiting until he simply couldn’t take it anymore. He stole a spacepod in a desperate bid to leave the planet, planning to search for his sister among the stars.
For years the Sayian Warrior scoured the cosmos in search of the missing unit, leaving no stone unturned in his quest. However, no matter who he threatened, who he cajoled, who he interrogated, Rafar could not succeed. It was like his twin and her companions had simply vanished into nothingness. During this time, Rafar took the odd bit of mercenary work, and found the efficiency and pay the work offered intriguing, a welcome distraction from his constant internal struggle and search. The Sayian grew quite famous among certain circles and began to take on larger and larger jobs.
However, after a straight year of this sort of work, Rafar put such business on the sidelines for a bit, wanting to focus more on his own problems. Despite everything, Rafar knew he would not be at peace until he had answers, and such answers could only be given to him by one person.
And so he hunted.
[ST-1] Tail Weakness - Rafar, through intense training, has overcome the weakness of his race, and grabs to his tail no longer bother him.
[BT-1]Impact Cannon - Rafar gathers a large sphere of ki energy above his fist, concentrating it and condensing it down. He then makes a punching motion towards his target which fires off the concentrated ki in a good sized wave of destruction! [1-50% Damage, Energy]
Example Roleplay:
Sometime later, the two mercenaries stood atop a rocky knoll on an alien moon, surveying a sprawling compound, ships and guards flitting between the numerous towers and buildings like so many ants. Rafar peered through his viewfinder, examining the compound in detail from a distance while Trarus stood behind him, arms crossed, and face twisted in a vicious sneer. After several minutes, Rafar made a noncommittal noise in his throat, holstering the device at his side. “Main tower, 5th floor third window to the right.” He said simply, closing an eye and extending his index finger towards the aforementioned location. This was an easy job, simply assassinate this backwater’s gluttonous dictator with a precise energy blast through the throat, and then he would be paid. Simple as that.
Of course, Rafar should have known that fate would never ignore the chance to screw with him.
Before he could even form the beginnings of a precise ki blast on his fingertip. Trarus let out a booming laugh, sweeping his hand forward in a grand gesture, launching a massive wave of ki towards the entire compound! Numerous energy signatures vanished in an instant, their weak power levels unable to even allow them to react to the attack, much less survive. However, even as the energy rampaged through the streets of the citadel, the strongest warriors rushed to the central tower, combining their powers to form a large ki barrier, protecting their charges, if just barely.
Rafar felt bile rise in his throat due to the pure, savage slaughter of helpless innocents within the citadel that were forced there by a tyrannical ruler. He whipped around to strike at his partner, only to meet a vicious backhand from the bigger alien, sending him flying for miles across the surface of the moon, only to smash into a large mountain at a speed that very nearly killed him. The Sayian slumped, completely beaten.
Several hours later, his eyes weakly flickered open, dust and pulverized rock clouding his vision as he awoke. A red pane of glass extended above his face, extending beyond his vision. Summoning the last of his strength, the Sayian barely managed to shift his head a few inches to the right, seeing only metal. He was…. strapped into a attack ball? Rafar hadn’t seen one of these in years, not since….
A heavy impact shook the reinforced armor of the ship, the vibrations of which caused Rafar to scream in agony. “Hello there little Sayian, I see you are a awake!” Rafar turned to see the speaker, only to see Trarus’s face inches from his own, only separated by the Attack Ball’s glass pane. “I will be honest, none of us at the Project thought you would survive that caliber of blow, but it seems your misplaced dedication did, in fact, raise your pathetic strength.” Even as the slimy alien spoke, his face and body shifted, changed, growing slowly more humanoid until a full-blooded Sayian stood before him, one eye replaced by a cybernetic augment. “And to think I spent all those years on Mavieter training for a mission, only to get stuck with your whiny ass for 6 months.” The Sayian spat on the glass, then activated the launch and cryosleep functions, sending Rafar to drift among the far-flung stars.
