Hikaru wiped the sweat from her brow and she straightened up from her hunched position. She looked over the devastation and destruction of the city. The streets were cracked, buildings toppled, and several missing and injured.
Hikaru stood atop the upper half of an office building that had collapsed on its side. She had been going in and looking for any survivors and removing the dead for their families. It was grim work, but of vital importance.
She jumped off the building, and then slowly descended towards the group of errected tents where the rescue teams met. Her boots tapped down on the cracked street and she picked her way over to the table that held containers of water to keep everyone hydrated while the worked.
Hikaru unzipped her thick hooded coat, and slipped it off. Underneath she had exchanged her customary suit of armor and collection of weapons for a simple under shirt. Hikaru set her coat aside and then poured herself a large cup of water. She sipped it slowly and looked over the workers and their progress.

Choking upon a cloud of dust that kicked up from shifting debris Jhelks strained the muscles in his arms and back as he pressed into a slab of concrete with all his might. The heavy layer of destroyed waste made the Namekian yell in exertion as he finally managed to push the large slab over with a loud crash, kicking up more dust and powdered stone.
Coughing violently as he waved his arms threw the quickly dissipating cloud, Jhelks watched as a family of three stumbled out from the clearing the Namekian had just made in the side of a collapsed building. Pointing the family in the right direction for aid, Jhelks knew from his own dry throat and sweat soaked skin that he also needed to take a break from the rescue efforts.
Walking back to camp through the destruction the dark warrior was amazed at the sheer devastation which surrounded him. An entire city reduced to a broken grave, the one time towers laying as if the exposed ribs of a corpse darkening the skyline with their memory. The sight was enough to even make Jhelks feel some level of sympathy for the survivors.
Reaching the rescue camp Jhelks passed by medical tents and sleeping quarters until he reached a pavilion laden with many tables containing supplies for both the workers and the survivors. Ignoring the tables containing food Jhelks instead moved straight for a supply of water. Coming up beside a woman draped in a under shirt, a coat laying upon the table before her. Jhelks practically snatched up a canteen an drained as much of the clean liquid as he could in one gulp.
"Anyone find out what caused all this yet?" Jhelks asked aloud as he looked from the city to his own clothes. The warrior's white robes were stained with brown and gray, dust and debris caking parts of his body like glue.

Hikaru lowered the cup from her lips to respond to Jhelks, "No," as taciturn as ever.
She shook her head and took another sip. This city didn't lay over a large fault line. When the quake had first started, they had thought it might be an aftershock from a larger quake elsewhere. But the strength of the quake grew to unbelievable levels. Eventually the city was brought to its proverbial knees.
The human finished the water she had been drinking, then reached for the spare canteens. She clipped two to her belt on her side. She could give them to any injured she found inside.
Hikaru picked up her coat, then paused, Gastro's voice in her head telling her not to be rude with one word answers. She turned to face Jhelks her coat slung over one arm and she shifted in place as she tried to think of something to add...
"Uh..." she nodded at another tent near by, "I haven't asked recently... maybe they have more news."

Jhelks nearly spit water from his mouth at the simple 'NO' the human female had thrown his way. Whether it was the woman's taciturn method of reply or the way she simply went back to drinking water the dark Namekian had just not expected her to respond in such an aloof manner. Catching himself before any spittle managed to escape his lips Jhelks swallowed down a gulp of the clean water and screwed the cap back onto his canteen with a raised brow, one antenna hanging oddly to one side as he watched the human woman snap two more canteen's onto her belt.
The woman made to leave, yet before she got far Jhelks watched as she turned back to him. This human clearly struggled with socializing, her feet shifting side to side as she searched for further words to add. In truth Jhelks found the display refreshing coming from a human, the Namekian people were quieter by nature than humans. "Would you like to seek answers with me?" Jhelks asked nodding his own bald head towards the indicated tent, the warrior was bored stiff moving stones and debris and even an awkward human could supply the Namekian with something to keep his attention.
Swiftly grabbing up two spare canteens of his own and tying them about his waist, the warrior offered the woman the chance to lead the way with a slight bow a custom common among even Dark Clan Namekians. "I am Jhelks of Namek. Hopefully I shall come to know you as well." Jhelks introduced himself as he waited to see what the human woman would do.

"Ah," Hikaru paused at his offer of her joining him to ask. She gave the Namekian a small, quick nod.
When the Namekian, Jhelks, bowed to her, Hikaru imitated him slightly with a dip of her head, "Hikaru. Emori Hikaru..."
Then Hikaru made a slight 'follow me' gesture with her hand, and picked her way towards the central tent where the relief efforts were being organized.
She was kind of glad to see a Namekian. After living among the people for so long, she had grown accustomed to their company. Meeting Jhelks was oddly a small comfort.

When the human woman paused at his offer Jhelks momentarily thought the woman was about to rebuff him. Instead however she returned his bow and offered her own name in exchange for his. "Emori Hikaru, I am glad to know you." Jhelks spoke the woman's name aloud in a manner which suggested committing it to memory in friendship, another Namekian custom of Jhelks surface brothers. In truth however the name was vaguely familiar to the green man. It was a distant memory that Jhelks could not quite place, but the Namekian was certain that at some point in his past he had heard the woman's name before.
As Hikaru gestured for him to follow after the woman Jhelks took in the greater surroundings that made up the rescue camp. To the pair's left a massive pavilion that had survived the earthquake had been converted into emergency quarters for the destitute survivors. Plywood boards had been nailed into place to block out the elements and offer a degree of privacy, meanwhile the inside was filled wall to wall with cots and walls made of hanging curtains. On their right stood rows of tents, the large red cross painted over many of them easily distinguished the medical tents from operation centers and living quarters for the rescue team. Beyond the encampment sat little but ruin and dust, the only remains of a once grand city for this planet.
"Such massive destruction... hopefully the rumors aren't true." Jhelks muttered as he and Hikaru quickly approached the rescue camps command post. Jhelks spoke of course of the rumor that the city had not faced a natural threat, but instead a weapon which brought death itself. Upon reaching the large tan canvas Jhelks reached passed Hikaru and held the entrance flap open for her to enter first. "Perhaps you should ask them? This was a human city after all, aliens may not be the pleasantly viewed at this time." Jhelks whispered to the human as he waited for her to pass him by, fully intending to follow after.
