The alarm clock on Jarod’s side table rang as he woke up from his sleep. He rolled over from the left side of his bed over to the right to look at the time. 11:05am. It was later than what Jarod had thought he had set it. Perhaps he had pressed a button one too many times. Ultimately it didn’t matter. There wasn’t any job or work lined up today so it was a relaxing day. Jarod rolled on to his back and then picked himself up off it.
He looked around his room as he rubbed the sleep away from his eyes. His hotel room in the west city grand was pretty nice in terms of layout. It wasn’t extravagant in terms of features but it had everything one could ask for, at least for Jarod. A bar fridge, an ash tray, a bed, a safe and a bathroom. An empty bottle of whisky with a stood on a long table on the other side of the room next to a red coloured laptop. It was open from last night as he reported his success to his boss as it is the only link Jarod, other than his phone. The phone however was more vulnerable to being hacked or it’s calls intercepted however so when he received work it was either in person or via his laptop.
The cowboy moved his legs to the side of the bed, and stood up at the side of it. A few slow steps and he had his hands at the laptop’s keyboard. A single strike on the space bar and the screen on the laptop lit up, revealing a log in screen of sorts. Jarod’s face, with a smug smile, was set up above two separate password box entries. Jarod typed in each of the fields and struck down on the enter key. Straight away the login screen faded and a desktop appeared in it’s place. A messenger like program appeared a few seconds afterwards with a small pop up with the words ‘no new messages’ on it.
“Nothing new huh?”
Two more presses on the keyboard and the screen turned itself off. Jarod then picked up the laptop and placed it in the safe. He then closed it and locked it with an inputted code. A simple safe, but there was a trick to it. The safe was made by the Red Ribbon Corporation, and they have a specialized ‘hard-lock’ if they ever get tampered with in an incorrect way. The laptop itself also has state-of-the-art security measures and encryption equal to that of a super computer. Nobody would be able to break into it.
With his laptop secured Jarod quickly got himself ready for the day. He took a nice, long shower and got dressed into his usual attire, then checked on the time. 12:03pm. It was already midday. Perhaps the long shower wasn’t such a good idea but it was a nice thing to have, especially on a ‘day off’. He left his hotel room, took the elevator down and exited the building via the main door in the foyer.
