History:
Jarod Helar, a man of mystery that is part bounty hunter, part businessman, and all cowboy. A charming rogue who does what it takes to make good money at the end of the day, either by gunning down criminals or by making deals with people who can’t refuse them. Jarod is a person who is obsessed about making money and reason why is unknown, even to Jarod himself.
In fact, Jarod doesn’t know anything other than his own name. A long time ago, the young man applied to be part of a cybernetic medical experiment of sorts in exchange for a unknown sum of money. During the experiment however something went wrong, and Jarod was left in a form of cytogenetic status for roughly 107 years. When he woke up he found himself without any memory inside one the laboratories of the Red Ribbon Corporation.
Without anywhere to go, Jarod took up work from the Corporation in exchange for money, all the while trying to look for clues about his past. For the last month the cowboy had accumulated a small fortune, all the while perfecting his new found abilities from being a cyborg.
Personality:
Cool and slick. Jarod is often sarcastic to a fault as he either charms his friends, insults his enemies or sometimes the reverse. He generally believes in finesse and smarts over raw power and his combat style reflect that, with pinpoint attacks at blinding speed and great power at the cost of any real destructibility. There are one or two exceptions however.
Jarod enjoys many vices, such as alcohol and smoking, and not the cheap kind either. Thanks to his wealth he often stocks up on some of the finest you can buy. Because of his specialized cybernetics they have no real damaging effect from them, other than their general effects that they would do a normal human (Get drunk, etc).
Starting Technique:
[Used 6 of 8 points]
(Tier 1 ST) Firearm Mastery - Jarod's inhuman ability to aim allows for pinpoint accuracy of weaknesses, which increases even more when he concentrates.
When attacking with a firearm, or using a technique that requires one, you may spend up to 25% of your stamina. If you do, increase the cost required to dodge the attack by half that percentage.
(Tier 1 ST) Reflector Coin - The cyborg creates a wafer thin yellowish disk of energy and throws it into the air. After a moment the disk freezes into place.
If a magnum blaster is used then Jarod may opt to reflect the attack from one or more disks. For each reflector disk used the attack becomes harder to dodge and hits harder.
(Tier 1 CT) Magnum Blaster [Single Shot] - Jarod points at his intended target with a finger gun gesture with a single finger and a thumb raised into the air. Energy is charged into the tip of the raised finger and right afterwards the thumb is then dropped down onto it. On contact, the energy is discharged in a tiny but extremely potent ball of energy that has both tremendous piercing power and an insanely fast travel speed.
(Tier 1 BT) Magnum Blaster [Full Clip] - Similar to the standard Mangum Blaster, Jarod instead has two fingers pointed at its intended target. When the thumb is pressed down a clump of 6 tiny balls of energy is fired towards the target, with the same speed as the original attack. On impact however the attack detonates into a explosion.
Example Roleplay:
The bar that Jarod sat in was a bit more tech enhanced compared to his usual tastes. Holographic displays were about across the table for entertainment as automated servants patrolled the seats, collecting used glasses and plates from the patrons. Sometimes one of them would call over the servants and make new orders for them to deliver. To Jarod, it was a rather soulless place, both in customers and in spirit. Other than himself there was only about 12 other people, and they weren't much in terms of making noise. The servos in the servants were louder than the conversations and general noise, except for the occasional loud sound of ceramic balls crashing into each other over by a sleep and non-traditional pool table. It was the person hitting the balls with a cue in their hands that Jarod was after.
The android was male in appearance and in question was a wanted criminal, and a rogue. A rather brutish thug that was several generations old, but still good enough in terms of design to be able to hide among society. His employer wanted him taken in, but not to involve the local police force or anyone else for that matter. Most likely the reason was that he was a Red Ribbon design. Jarod knew this from his augmented eyes that help processed data for him. The moment he had his sights on the android for more than a few seconds he was able to learn a lot. Jarod continued to watch his target play pool as he himself took a sip of his own drink, a glass a whisky and an expensive rich brand too. The taste was just as rich as the cost. Luckily for the cyborg he was able to afford such luxuries thanks to his job.
As Jarod lowered the glass from his lips he noticed that the android was angry. After about 12 or so hits on the white ball roughly only 2 of the ones he was aiming for had gone into the holes. In a rage the machine lifted it’s left leg as both of his arms held onto the cue as it lowered it on to the knee, snapping it in half. The bartender, also a robotic servant of sorts, immediately turned to it and hovered over to the android.
“Hey, are you going to pay for that?” said the servant. It spoke in a robotic tone that didn’t really intimidate or express emotion. The android turned to it and without another word picked up the servant like it was another pool cue with both of it’s arms. With a firm grip and great strength the android bent the servant like how one would bend a twig, or more roughly a large branch. The noise of metal crunching and bending attracted the attention of all of the other customers as the android continued.
“Police have been notified of your violent ac..ac..ac..activity.”
Sparks shot out of sections of the poor servant robot as it’s blue lit up eyes flickered before fading completely. With a smirk, the violent android dropped what remained of his victim in his hands and began to walk out of the bar. The patrons in the room began to talk to themselves in a panic as the other servant robots continued about their duties without a care. Seeing as his target was about to leave, Jarod called over one of the servants as he pointed at the table. Without any fuss the robot came right over and it’s eyes lit up a bright blue.
“Hello
The soulless voice of the robot was grating to Jarod’s ears, especially the ‘preset’ part of their speech patterns. Since the machines were so ‘cheap’ in terms of quality they really didn’t have many features other than summon, take orders, deliver and accept payment. It was convenient, yes. But it was also heartless. There wasn’t any emotion that really turns off the atmosphere in the bar.
“I’ll like to pay.”
“The total cost of your table is [one thousand and twenty] zeni, how do you wish to pay?”
“Card”
As soon as Jarod said that word the torso on the servant robot began to glow with a few vertical stripes. As the cowboy raised his right hand to the robot’s torso he glanced the Android who took its final steps out of the bar and though the main door.
*beep*
A noise came from the robot as the stripes flickered for a bit, then faded completely.
“Your payment has been accepted. Thank you for your patronage. We hope to see you again.”
Thanks to his current employers, Jarod had a rather nice card translator device of sorts integrated into his right hand. It was a rather simple implant, a little extra that Jarod requested to help make digital transactions much easier to perform without needing to carry around cards that could be lost or stolen, which would be traced back to him.
Jarod didn’t bother with a response to the machine which has started to slowly hover away. It wouldn’t appreciate it nor would it even respond to it. He slowly stood up and walked out of the bar. Two quick turns and he found his target walking away at a steady pace. Thanks to his augmented vision he could track his targets, even when it was heavily crowder. Not that a crowd was a problem at the moment. It was late, and the sidewalks were thinning out in terms of people.
Both Jarod and the android slowly walked past several blocks until the android turned down a small alleyway. Jarod slightly leaned over the side of the edge of the building to watch his target walk down another, smaller alleyway.
“Well, either he knows he’s being tailed or he is visiting somebody. Either way it’s beneficial to me.”
After the android went out of his line of sight the cowboy moved out and entered the smaller alley in pursuit, his target halfway through it. It took two more steps and then stopped still. The android then spoke in it’s rough voice.
“I don’t like being followed. Come out so i can see you.”
Since the element of surprise was no longer available Jarod walked out of the cover of the wall and stood roughly five meters away from the android in front of him.
“I saw you back in the bar. You’re here for me, ain’t ya?”
“Well I followed you here, android, so i guess it might as well be here for you.”
“Cute”
The android burst forward with several heavy steps of his feet. It’s left fist at the ready as the machine threw a weighted punch towards Jarod, only for the machine to hit thin air. Jarod had manage to move out of the way and behind the android with ten meters in distance between themselves.
“What the…?”
“It’s your unlucky day boy. Especially since you ran into me. I mean I watched your play back in the bar and I tell you, you were gods awful. Couldn’t even hit a straight line. I bet your aim with darts would just as bad.”
The bulky android turned around and yelled in rage as he charged Jarod once again, only this time the cowboy wasn’t simply standing still. He raised his right hand and pointed at his target with his index finger. His thumb standing straight up as he thought to him.
“Older model Androids such as him have points in their body that are connected to each other in a way that is required to operate. If i had to guess where then…”
The difference between the two in reaction time was drastic, and Jarod could pretty much see his bounty in slow motion at this point. He moved his hand in position. Energy charged quickly and effectively into the index finger and the thumb then lowered itself down. From the tip of the finger emerged a large marble like projectile, the velocity of the attack was equivalent to that of a railgun.
The small ball of energy punched right though the neck of the android, making a clear hole through it. Jarod then moved his hand and pointed at the left shoulder joint and quickly snap fired another ball of energy from his index finger. A swift adjustment and another shot later and the right shoulder joint was punctured. Two more shots were then fired with lightning fast movements, each of them aiming for the android’s leg joints.
With the android’s frame now removed of all of it’s mobility it slumped to the ground. Jarod walked over to the machine as it struggled in vain to get away and held the torso in place with his right foot. The same finger from before now pointed towards it and with a quick calculated shot like before tore through the Android’s energy system. The destruction of it caused Jarod’s target to stop moving.
Smoke came from Jarod’s right hand as he began to discharge the excess power. He waved it about a bit to dispersed the smoke. It was then that the cowboy heard a voice from below.
“You….son...of..a..”
Jarod smiled at the fact that the android could still speak. He reached down and placed his left hand into the hole of the android’s neck and pulled out a wire.
“Yea, that’s enough of that.”
Before the android could swear it’s voice broke down. There was mouth movement, but not voice. Jarod walked off the remains of the android below him and reached into his pants to grab a mobile phone of sorts. A few screen presses and it began to ring up his employer. Jarod placed it to the side of his head next to his ear as somebody on the other end picked up.
“This is Jarod, the target has been disabled. It’s damaged but at the very least salvageable…I think. Requesting a pickup. Location is trackable.”
Jarod then moved the phone away and ended the call. He placed the phone back where he pulled it out from. He then moved his hand to one of the pockets from inside his jacket and took out an old fashioned lighter from it, along with a metal case. He opened up the case to reveal a set of cigars, pulled one out and then placed the metal case back into his inner pockets.
A few clicks of his lighter and a small flame was produced. Jarod raised the lighter to his cigar and took several puffs to help light up the stick of tocabbo and to inhale a bit of the smoke. Now content, Jarod placed the lighter back into its original position, all the while as he leaned down to take a closer look at his captured target.
“Well, it’s been a fine night’s work. Much at your expense here.”
He didn’t care if the android hated him. To Jarod, it was just a walking, easy to cash in paycheck. With a smile, Jarod pulled the cigar out of his mouth with one of his hands and blew a cloud of smoke into the android’s face.
