Hale was born with great power as a Changeling, that much is certain but even then... Hale has come across warriors who, in their base form are several times stronger than Hale in even his true form. Hale hasn't found any reason to improve himself until this point, he's never properly trained himself. He's always relied on his raw power given to him for just being a Changeling but if he wants to stay on top and competitive with the other races he has met so far, even he knows he'll have to start consistently training before he gets pushed behind for it. He wouldn't last very long in the universe that way and he certainly wouldn't be of much use to Lettuki when that happens.
So, he decided to stop taking it easy with his level of strength and decided to beyond further, he's currently in his first form and his plan is to train in the said form, but the real problem is he isn't very efficient at his energy control yet, and whenever he uses his increased power as he transforms into his stages towards his true form, he wastes away energy to the side. This is especially a major problem in his true form. He would focus on that aspect a bit later on but for now, he would begin a few training steps in his first form, and his idea is "shadow sparring"
In other words, he's heard of a method to visualise an opponent in-front of him and pretend to brawl them, to have a strong focus on that imagination as if they were actually there. It's quite different to the real deal but it's intensive enough to give a good workout, or serves as a good warmup before a real training session and that's his idea, to get his body going for the transformations that he'll have to pull.
He began by closing his eyes and remembering a certain individual back in his youth, one that kept coming back at him like a fly no matter how badly he swatted the damn person. He imagined him being on equal ground with the Changeling and already, his imagination struck wild and his instincts kicked in, flying around and punching away, followed by a constant series of kicks through the air... to anyone watching the Changeling outside of this practice, he would look a bit odd as he's punching and kicking away hard at seemingly nothing, while in his imagination, it's working him up and it feels like an intensive battle, even though it's not real. He didn't focus on anything else at the moment but purely this imagination session.
