Tsuno village was a large settlement of warriors upon planet Namek, over many generations the village had slowly turned into the premier training center for warrior caste Namekians as well as for non-namekian combatants who wished to learn the Namek style. The village had also become known for it's regular patrol parties sent into Namek's depths to combat the furious Dark Clan that dwelt below. What the Tsuno warrior's did not know was that the Dark Clan had long ago infiltrated the village defenses and had integrated several spies among the village counsel.
With Tsuno's regular exchange of warriors coming and going for both training and patrolling, few people noticed or cared when battle ready Namekians passed through the town. This lead to the Dark Clan having used Tsuno itself as a staging point for years to move from Namek's depths to Namek's beautiful surface. This also lead to the many benefits of secretly granting use of Tsuno's training grounds to the dark Namekian's, which was how Jhelks found himself upon a large training arena this very moment. The warrior was busy tightening the straps of his shield to his forearm as he searched for a training partner.
On the fringes of the actual Tsuno settlement sat an array of platforms built into the blue fields of grass. Each platform was little more than a stone dais twenty meters in diameter. Jhelks noticed the simple platforms lacked the natural dangers of training in the magma grottoes near Slug City, but training in Tsuno allowed the warrior to see sunlight as well as get a feel for battling his surface brethren. The warrior noticed many other warriors conducting training nearby, but most lacked enough power to challenge Jhelks, and those that did were already engaged with a partner.
"I really need a regular partner that isn't Cargot." Jhelks muttered to himself as he scanned the others around him in search of a partner, the Namekian almost smiled when a familiar face finally came into view. "Looks like I found a winner. HEY! OVER HERE!" Jhelks said to himself before shouting to gain the attention of a woman he had met not long ago.

Hikaru didn’t often come to the training grounds. They reminded her of her times in the PTO. The teams of soldiers dispatched in groups of various training partners. Even the round platforms used as training arenas reminded her a bit of that past from not so long ago. So, she preferred to train alone. But she couldn’t afford to do that much longer. She was hitting a frustrating plateau. Hikaru needed to spar and train against others. True, she had a partner in Sora, but she couldn’t rely on just practicing against his specific fighting style. She needed to expand. To experience more. There were also the constant raids and combats against the Dark Clan. But those bouts were for their lives. They weren’t meant for the careful study of one’s form and techniques. And so she found herself here, amongst the other warriors of Tsuno’s village. While they were predominantly Namekians, true to the people’s welcoming nature, there were other races as well. A pair of saiya-jins were in a vicious melee far out in the distance to avoid getting everyone caught in the bulk of the clash. A tuffle had brought a small assortment of weapons and seemed to be shooting at a human companion as target practice. Judging by their camaraderie this was a common practice between the two. One practiced aiming, the other dodging, benefiting both parties. Hikaru gazed about, lost on how to even begin to approach someone to spa- The human woman turned when she heard a familiar voice call to her. It was Jhelks, the Namekian she had met when Gastro had taken her to the gold tournament in Katas Market. Hikaru felt a small wave of appreciation. This saved her a lot of trouble. Hikaru picked her way across the training area towards Jhelks and raised her gloved hand in greeting when she stood before him, “Hello Jhelks. Are you here to spar?” She hoped he was. He would be an excellent partner. He was much more powerful than her weighted level, meaning she could test her new techniques full out, while still keeping her weights. Hikaru wanted to learn to control these techniques with and without the weights.

The dark Namekian waved as the human woman came forth to greet him from across the training ground. An explosion out in the distance slightly pulled Jhelks's attention to the pair of dueling Saiyans. Their clash was quite the spectacle to behold as both warrior possessed quite the degree of power. With hope the dark Namekian would soon possess such power himself. Jhelks peeled his eyes away from the mock battle as Hikaru finally walked the last few steps to reach his side, hand extended in greeting. The Namekian reached out with his own clawed hand and gladly shook the warrior woman's own, Hikaru was powerful and would greatly aid in his training.
"Indeed I am. I find the easiest way to learn is by doing. Hell I learned to fly by falling." the Namekian joked, even though he was secretly telling the truth. "I can only assume you are here for similar reasons. I would be honored if you would train with me." Jhelks asked as he surveyed the woman. The dark Namekian had secretly been hoping to see the woman fight since their first meeting, it was impossible to learn a persons style without having seen them fight.
A flash of light and the crackle of nearby lightning was followed by two voices erupting in argument. A nearby pairing of Tuffle and Human broke out into a heated disagree as apparently the Tuffle had used a weapon they had previously promised not to fire in their practice. Jhelks laughed at the spectacle since nobody had actually been injured, even though the human's armor now bore a new scorch mark.
"I was hoping to practice a technique I've been developing for my shield. I would be happy to assist you in any such training as well." Jhelks said tapping a hand against his shield and turning back to Hikaru as he awaited the woman's response with excitement.

“So did I,” Hikaru responded to Jhelks’s jest literally. She had also been thrown from heights to force her to learn to fly, just the same as him. Even though she didn’t hide it behind a joke. The human remembered how she had only just begun to walk, making her way towards running, when they started taking children and pushing them off platforms. They didn’t have time to waste on weaklings. Hikaru vaguely remembered that was the first time she had broken a bone. Hm… Hikaru mentally shook her head to bring herself back from her memories to her conversation here in the present. She opened her mouth to respond to her newest namekian friend when lightning clashed near enough that Hikaru could feel her hair prickle from static. She absent mindedly combed her hair back down with her fingers before attempting to speak again. “I am,” she nodded her hair now laying, well, not flat, but close enough to it, “I need a sparring partner who can take a blow,” she gave a nod to the shield he wore. This was a perfect match up. Almost too convenient. But Hikaru wouldn’t complain. She was glad for the convenience of the arrangement. Jhelks was powerful. He was also more practiced than Peardian (who Hikaru genuinely didn’t want to hit no matter how tough the girl claimed to be). She was also curious to see how he planned to use his shield. It sounded as though he was figuring out a way to attack with a defensive weapon, and that was a technique Hikaru would very much like to see. Hikaru did a cursory glance around them and spotted a relatively empty area about 20 yards away. She waved her arm towards that general area, “Let’s go there.”

The mirthless way Hikaru responded to Jhelks joke hinted that she spoke a sour truth. Each time Jhelks met the woman he discovered a little more about her, and found that her upbringing shared many painful similarities to his own. The warrior made no comment and let the moment pass, though one day Jhelks planned to learn just what had befall this human. She may not be a Namekian but Jhelks felt a hard to define kinship with the human that at least he believed to be worth exploring.
Hikaru's hair sprang skyward as the shock of ozone flooded the immediate area surrounding the training platform, and try as he might Jhelks found himself starring as the woman combed herself back to fashion. Being a hairless species, many Namekians found hair an oddity and Jhelks was no exception. The warrior would never admit to it but the vibration of the lightning scorching the air was enough to cause his antenna to tingle, Jhelks could only wonder if the human's hair felt a similar sensation?
A smile lit Jhelks's features as Hikaru not only agreed to spar, but spoke of 'needing a partner whom could take a blow.' The dark Namekian knew not if Hikaru had a special attack in mind, or simply wished to fight without restraint. Either way he was happy to oblige. The human pointed out a nearby empty space and lead them over to the chosen training ground. They hadn't traveled far, but it did not escape Jhelks notice that Hikaru had chosen a spot just off the raised training platform. Maybe Hikaru just liked the feel of grass underfoot? Or she held a dislike for the stone dais? In the end Jhelks didn't care as he was happy to spar wherever the woman felt comfortable.
"I won't go easy on you little sister. So I expect the same from you." Jhelks said as they reached the patch of grass, the warrior doing a final check on his shield before stepping passed Hikaru by a good fifteen paces. Jhelks wasn't certain just how powerful Hikaru was do to her weighted clothing, if the Namekian had to guess he did believe himself to be the stronger of them. Still the woman gave off a impressive amount of energy and carried herself like a veteran, meaning she could likely catch him off guard if he wasn't careful.
"Ready when you are." Jhelks said as he bent his arm to bring his shield protectively before him, the teardrop shaped barrier blocking view of his chest and both hands while his face from nose up could be seen behind the weapon. Jhelks waited for any signal that Hikaru was ready and as soon as it came he burst into motion!
The Namekian's first attack was not meant to win, but too test. Vanishing from his position Jhelks reappeared almost thirty feet to Hikaru's right, his feet coming to a skidding stop in the blue grass which kicked up loose blades to be caught by the wind. From over his shield the warrior opened his fanged maw and fired a small blast of yellow energy at the human about the size of a melon. His assault launched Jhelks kept his eyes peeled to see what Hikaru could do.

‘Little Sister’? Hikaru cocked her head at the title. She wasn't offended by it. It was just quite curious. No one had ever called her that before. The Namekians considered themselves brothers, as they were technically one extended family, but Hikaru wasn’t of their family. She wasn’t even of their race. Though the title wasn’t a literal one it still felt… odd. But not unpleasant. Hikaru wordlessly tightened her fingerless gloves, and checked the straps on her boots. A few stretches to make sure she could move freely in spite of her thick coat and weighted clothes, and she was ready. Hikaru slid into a deep stance, wide for a solid center of gravity. Then she met Jhelks’s eyes and gave him a firm nod. She was ready. And then he was gone. Hikaru just barely had time to catch him appearing to her right, but she wouldn’t be able to dodge. Instead she threw up her arm and deflected the attack. He was fast. Much faster than her. She would need to cut off his maneuverability. That meant bringing the fight to him! Hikaru’s feet crunched into the dirt, and then she launched herself at Jhelks, leaving two divots in her wake. She extended her left hand and set out a rapid fire barrage of weak ki blasts. It wasn’t to hurt him, but more to pin him down while she advanced. She hoped to have him hunker down behind his shield rather than dodge away from her. The human pulled up in front of Jhelks, coat swishing with the sudden movement, and she slammed a devastating combo of punches and back fists, intending to push open Jhelks’s guard through brute force. Hikaru’s fists clanged against the Namekian’s shield like the clap of a bell. She felt the strength of the impact reverberate up her arms. She would NOT be breaking that shield any time soon. While Hikaru was capable of subtlety and finesse she felt that this method of attack might serve her better against Jhelks. At least for this early on in their match.

Hikaru's preparation for the spar was quick and efficient as she surveyed her gear and tightened down a few odd ends. Suspecting before that the woman was not merely a fighter, but some kind of soldier; Jhelks wasn't surprised by these traits. In fact the Namekian was happy the woman possessed such training, for it meant he did not have to wait long before launching his attack.
Jhelks sudden step and blast of ki had been completed with speed in mind. Yet whether or not he had caught the human woman by surprise, Hikaru managed to back hand his ki blast out of the air to spiral off behind her. The yellow missile curved in a wide arc before smashing into the earth with an small explosion of dirt and grass several meters behind the human, leaving her none the worse off from his first attack.
The Namekian had no time to speculate events however as Hikaru dug herself into the dirt and launched forward at full speed. Jhelks likely could have countered the charge, but the woman cleverly extended her left hand and pelted him with tiny bullets of ki. Raising his shield to intercept Jhelks felt the rumble of impact like a heavy rain striking a window pane. The ki bounced wildly off his shield to strike the grass, ripping strips of dirt into the blue blades or flying freely into the sky. Hikaru was upon him soon after.
Her fists smashed and battered his shield with the force of hammer blows! Each strike forcing strain upon Jhelks forearm as his shield jockeyed back and forth from the heft hits. It became apparent swiftly that Hikaru could not power through Jhelks's shield, but if she thought to strike in the right pattern she could force his defenses off to one side, leaving him opened and exposed! Realizing he couldn't simply rely on blocking Jhelks changed up his tactics and purposely drove his shield forward and to the left.
With Hikaru's barrage pelting his now overextended shield, the warrior used the force of Hikaru's next strike to help him spin his body out to the woman's right side! Throwing his own weight into the spin Jhelks stomped his back foot heavily into the dirt when he lined up with the human's flank coming to a fast stop. Lining up his shield Jhelks moved to check the woman in her exposed side, putting the full force of his shoulder behind the bashing shield for extra power.

Hikaru's hands stung from the blows ringing against Jhelks’s unbreaking shield. Her knuckles would have been skinned and bloody were it not for the fingerless gloves she wore. But they did little to protect her from the concussive shock rebounding from her attacks. Hikaru’s attempts to break open Jhelks’s guard were rebuffed. Instead he used the own force of her attacks to shift back and flank her. Hikaru shifted her weight, pivoting to face Jhelks as he rammed her with his shield. She just barely managed to get her hands up in time to palm the shield in both hands. But the force of the blow still sent her stumbling backwards. The human back pedaled several steps, giving herself a little room. Jhelks was obviously extremely proficient with his shield. He was practiced with it and knew just how to use it offensively and defensively. Hikaru respected Jhelks’s skill. He was a formidable sparring partner and she was glad to have found him today. Hikaru ran through her options. Up close it would be difficult to break through his guard. But his speed would make it difficult to pin him down at a distance. She could try to break through with brute force again, but didn’t think it would be effective with how well he managed that first time. How to get through that guard… Hikaru nodded firmly, and then stepped in again to engage Jhelks. She then repeated her previous strategy of trying to break through his guard through brute force. But this time she made her strikes a little harder, almost more reckless. She left herself a little more open, but not obviously so. Hikaru hoped he would take the bait.

Even as his heavy shield slammed home Jhelks had thought his daring, if reckless, execution to be perfectly performed. Instead of a bone rattling smash however the Namekian found that Hikaru had blocked in a simple, yet splendid manner. The Namekian had gone through so much effort to position to the human's flank, and with a simple pivot Hikaru had countered his assault by merely palming his shield and bracing her arms.
The impact had still been enough to bounce the human woman back several feet, which Hikaru used to backpedal a safe distance away. Jhelks took the time to breath deep and return his breathing to normal, lowering his pulse so he could hear himself think. The woman seemed to be running through her own options as well, likely seeking any tactical advantage she could gain.
Something about the woman's fighting style struck a familiar chord within Jhelks as he reviewed her footwork and technique. The way she surveyed the field, which foot lead into which strike... the dark warrior couldn't place it yet; but this woman's training almost seemed as though a thing that Jhelks had seen before in life. Jhelks fast ran out of time to ponder however as Hikaru rushed back in with her fists leading the charge!
Bringing his shield about as the human once again pounded away with a series of rapid fire punches, the heavy metal barrier was jostled side to side as the Namekian fought to maintain his balance and posture under the brutal storm. This time Hikaru seemed to fight all the harder, and all the wilder to pierce his guard. So much so in fact that Jhelks began to see gaps in the woman's own defenses.
Slipping the fingers of his free hand around the wrist of his weapon bearing arm Jhelks shoved his shield upwards and out to disrupt the human's flurry. Than the warrior crouched his legs into a steep squat and sprang forth like a coiled snake! Once again his mighty shield barreled forward, aiming to bash just below the human's breast line.

Hikaru watched Jhelks carefully in between her strikes. She waited… and there! The slightest shift in his stance, here it came. Hikaru sucked in a breath and braced herself… As Jhelks’s shield ran home, slamming Hikaru so hard she was actually lifted off her feet a few inches. The previous breath of air she had tried to hold was immediately ejected from her in a great woosh. The blow was even harder than she expected. She hoped he hadn’t broken anything… But in the moment Jhelks landed his attack, Hikaru countered, taking the opening his attack gave her. She whipped her arm forward slammed her elbow down on his shoulder of the arm holding his shield, aiming directly for his clavicle. Then she landed in a crouch and swung her fist up into an uppercut against his jaw, swinging with all her might. Had she finally done it? Had she gotten the timing just right for her counter attack? For the briefest moment, when an attack lands, people let their guard down. They were confident in the damage they deliver forcing their enemies to flinch. It was then that Hikaru intended to turn the tide. It was a risky technique. Requiring her to leave herself open, but it would be worth it if it allowed her to break through a defense as tight as Jhelks and his shield. He was the perfect opponent. Once again, she was glad to have found him today.

Even as his shield slammed home upon Hikaru's exposed mid section time seemed to move as if in slow motion for Jhelks as he realized his mistake. The hard surface of his shield took Hikaru with enough force to lift the human off her feet, yet as she stretched out over his weapon the human reached forward and dropped her elbow in a devastating arc. Hard bone met joint, and Jhelks could feel the separation of muscle as the woman's strike tore through him; snapping his clavicle and popped his arm free of the socket in his shoulder.
Pain lanced through Jhelks as the force of his strike finally sent Hikaru off his shield to land in the soft grass. She landed in a tight crouch and sprang back in with a wicked punch meant to level the Namekian! With his arm hanging listless and useless by his side Jhelks could not hope to raise his weapon to his defense. Instead the Namekian leaned back and raised his chin in hope to sway the uppercut. The tactic only partially worked as two knuckles on Hikaru's fist collided with the underside of his chin, sending Jhelks stumbling backward several steps from the teeth clattering hit.
The vicious counter assault had been completely unexpected by the dark Namekian and he had suffered greatly for it. Anger built tension within the warrior at having taken so much pain from a human, but with a deep exhalation of breath Jhelks managed to push his building animosity out of himself. Instead Jhelks choose to focus on more important matters, spitting a tooth free from his mouth into the grass the warrior reached around to his limp arm; firmly grasped his bicep and forcefully reset his shoulder into it's socket.
Red streaked through his eyes at the pain of such a tactic, but it was necessary as Namekian regeneration would not set dislocations. Once his arm was back in place Jhelks body began to heal. His clavicle sewn back together, the cut upon his chin closed, and his tooth regrew in his jawline. Through all the pain Jhelks focused upon Hikaru, his features did not show anger in that studious gaze. Jhelks was impressed with the woman, but even more so than her skill and determination Jhelks finally recognized what he believed was so familiar about her fighting style.
Bringing his shield to bear the Namekian prepared for one final assault for this sparring session. Taking a few steps towards the human Jhelks suddenly vanished from sight! The weighted touch of his feet hitting grass would sound to Hikaru's right, than her left as shadowy images of Jhelks were left to either side of the human from the Namekian's fast paced movements. Than right before the human's eyes Jhelks reappeared! Shield raised for a powerhouse bash the weapon descended in a rapid arc, only to stopped inches from Hikaru's face.
"Why do you move like the PTO?" Jhelks asked lowering his shield, a stern look upon his features being the only true attack meant to land in this moment.

When Jhelks spat out a tooth, and then forced his arm back in place, Hikaru dropped her guard a bit. She hadn’t meant for her counter attack to have damaged him so thoroughly. This was supposed to be a friendly sparring match. But her concern eased when it seemed Jhelks was regenerating from her attacks. Seeing Jhelks’s focused gaze upon her, she nodded back at him, and then returned to her defensive stance, ready for him. Or so she thought. Jhelks seemingly vanished before her eyes. She mentally cursed, his speed catching her by surprise. The human pivoted on her heel, trying to follow his movements as it seemed multiple copies of Jhelks appeared. From where would he strike? From right in front of her! Hikaru crouched low, trying to buy herself the scant moments she would need to raise her arms up and block the descending shield. She wouldn’t be fast enough, the attack would hit home, slamming down on her face. But Jhelks halted his attack scarcely inches from her head. It was an impressive display of control. Hikaru stood frozen, crouched low as Jhelks stared hard at her. Then he seemed to drop his attack, and Hikaru straightened. Jhelks seemed to recognize her style. He demanded why she moved in the style of the Planet Trade Organization soldiers. Hikaru didn’t flinch away from the question. “I was a soldier,” Hikaru said factually, “I left.” It was such a simple statement. The grass was blue, the sky was green, Hikaru was once a soldier for one of the most massive military organizations in the universe and she left them.

Jhelks's dazzling assault of speed and deception had seemed to catch Hikaru fully off her guard. Yet even as the dark warrior halted his assault last moment and pulled away the human woman displayed very little emotion or concern. Once the Namekian had pulled his weapon away and the woman had straightened herself to stand tall, Jhelks asked his question. Hikaru did not disappoint him as she answered in the affirmative. She did not flinch in anger or fear as she admitted her one time allegiance to the PTO.
Part of Jhelks wondered why the human had not picked up on his own association, but he quickly realized how foolish such a thought was. Namekian children were little more than cannon fodder in the PTO. They weren't trained, they weren't even expected to survive. Jhelks had proven to be one in thousands as he not only survived, but advanced in the universe expanding Trade Organization. Hikaru however seemed to have under gone a much more regimented military career. Jhelks had see it before in PTO soldiers, some frolicked in the evil and brutality. Others broke, locking themselves away from the universe around them. most often those were the more dangerous ones.
As the dark Namekian pondered this new information he noticed that Hikaru simply stood there watching him. Did she expect him to be angry? how would she respond if a native of Namek shamed her for her past? Jhelks knew that this information could greatly effect how people reacted to Hikaru on the peaceful planet. The warrior had no desire to curse Hikaru's future however, in fact if he played things right...
Spreading his arms wide Jhelks stepped forward and wrapped Hikaru in a tight embrace! The display of affection was uncommon for them both Jhelks was sure, but he allowed his feelings to guide him in the moment. "Than truly you are home little sister." Jhelks said as he brought the woman out to arms length after his hug. Hikaru wasn't much shorter than Jhelks, the Namekian only possessing a few inches on the woman. However Jhelks buffed out his chest with pride as he gave Hikaru a look over, eyes beaming with new appreciation. "I too was PTO. I too left." Jhelks said calmly, his tone sorrowful as it expressed an understanding of what life in the PTO was like.
Human or not Hikaru had just revealed herself to a upbringing that few on Namek could understand. In fact Jhelks was likely the only one on Namek's 'surface' that had any idea.

Whatever Hikaru expected, it certainly wasn’t that! Hikaru’s whole body stiffened in surprise at the sudden and unfamiliar gesture of affection. She didn’t seem displeased or uncomfortable, just surprised and lost. Hikaru wasn’t sure how to respond, and simply stood there until Jhelks pulled back. The look of confusion on the normally stone faced human was actually comical. When Jhelks finally revealed that he too shared her upbringing, Hikaru blinked, the confusion switching to surprise. It was the most expressive she had ever been in the Namekian’s presence. “I…” she shook her head gathering herself. Hikaru was less shocked by Jhelks’s revelation and more his method. Affection was a foreign concept to her to say the least, she had rarely been embraced in her lifetime. Once again Jhelks called her little sister, and Hikaru wasn’t sure how she felt about it… she didn’t think she minded it. “I see,” Hikaru said quietly with a nod of her head, but unsure of what else to add… “I had no idea anyone else has left. In my regiment it… simply wasn’t done.” Not only once you were PTO, you were essentially PTO for life. But Hikaru had been raised into the life. It was all she had known. The Planetary Trade Organization had been her mother, and her father. She never thought in her life she would meet another like her that had left the PTO for a peaceful life. Hikaru had gathered herself again. Returned back to her stoic self. The shock and surprise back under control. She ran her eyes over Jhelks, now observing the way he held himself, and mentally going over their match. In hindsight she could see the signs that she had utterly glossed over before...

The human woman stood stiff in Jhelks embrace before the dark Namekian released her. In truth the warrior was himself unfamiliar with showing such physical or emotional affection, but Jhelks pushed the oddity of feeling aside and reached down deep for the inner; kind-hearted surface dweller mentality he assumed would be expected of him. Hikaru's reaction came as expected though, the Planetary Trade Organization shared many similarities to the Dark Clan of Namek. A general lack of emotion besides rage and fury being one of them. Still the woman did not push him away or cry out in disdain, suggesting that on some level the human was accepting of him.
Hikaru stammered a bit as she worked on a response, eventually the woman spoke of her regiment. Spoke of how no one ever left the PTO. Jhelks stood calm through it all as she worked her way through the information. Hikaru wasn't wrong, for most the PTO was a lifetime of service. Jhelks had exploited a loophole from an ancient peace treaty between the PTO and the Dark Clan to leave his career behind. It wasn't hard for him to guess that Hikaru's departure hadn't been on such 'acceptable' terms.
A grim look came over Jhelks even as the human woman conquered her own emotion. Once again she stood like stone against the ocean, but Jhelks now grew acutely aware of every person which surrounded them. The PTO conscripted many races, and Namek was full of many travelers. Every Saiyan, Tuffle, human and Android could potentially be a spy; and only one of them needed to recognize Hikaru for them to rain hell's wraith down upon her.
Jhelks himself still maintained contacts within the PTO that he could use to report the suspected deserter. Surely a grand reward would be awarded to him for her capture. Yet the warrior found the thought of such an outcome... unbecoming. Hikaru was a skilled soldier, ingrained in the surface life of Namek, yet likely held a dark stain upon her soul. A stain ripe for harvest by those who knew which strings to pluck and which to cut loose.
"Hikaru... if you would let me, I would like to see more of you." Jhelks requested as he internally pondered how best to use this realization. The human could potentially be a truly powerful asset, Jhelks simply needed to discern how?
